Refund policy

Last updated: March 31, 2026

Bin Valet provides subscription-based services, including weekly bin valet visits billed monthly. This policy explains how trials, cancellations, refunds and billing issues are handled for those Services.

Please read this policy carefully before purchasing or starting a trial. By signing up for the Services, you agree to this policy.

Services, Not Physical Goods

Bin Valet is a subscription service for weekly bin valet visits billed monthly. We do not sell physical goods, so there are no returns or exchanges.

2-Week Free Trial

All plans include a 14-day free trial for new customers (the “Trial Period”).

  • During the Trial Period, you will be charged $0.
  • You must provide a valid payment method at signup. Your payment details are stored securely by Shopify.
  • Your Trial Period is limited to one per household or service address, and we may refuse or cancel repeat trials.
  • The Trial Period lasts for 14 days from signup or up to two scheduled service visits, whichever happens first.

What Happens After the Trial

Unless you cancel before the Trial Period ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid monthly subscription and your first monthly charge will be processed on the first billing date after the trial.

Cancelling During the Trial

You can cancel at any time during the Trial Period.

To avoid the first paid charge, you must cancel before 11:59pm NZ time on the final day of your Trial Period.

Refunds

After your first paid billing, we do not offer partial-month refunds or refunds for unused portions of a billing period, unless required by New Zealand law.

Billing Errors

If you believe you were charged incorrectly, including for a duplicate charge, wrong plan or charge after a correct cancellation, please contact us within 7 days and we will investigate. If the error is ours, we will refund or credit you.

Missed or Skipped Visits

A weekly visit is not refundable if we cannot complete it due to reasons outside our control, including:

  • Locked gate or no access;
  • Unsafe conditions, including loose dogs, hazards or construction;
  • Bins blocked in or bins not available;
  • Severe weather or emergency events; or
  • Council disruptions, including missed pickup, route changes or strikes.

If we miss a visit due to our fault, we will make reasonable efforts to re-service or provide a make-good.

New Zealand Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under New Zealand consumer law.
